HOW TO USE

  1. SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

GUARDI limestone stucco should be applied on robust, durable and level substrates. The substrate must be clean, dry and free from dust, grease and other substances that reduce adhesion. Before applying the stucco, prime the substrate after drying and seasoning with latex primer GUARDI, and in the case of external application, with GUARDI priming agent. Prime the fresh cement and cement-lime plasters after approx. 4 weeks and gypsum plasters after approx. 2 weeks after plastering. The finish coat and surfaces made of drywall must be dedusted and then primed, e.g. using Akryl G. The surface should not leave any white dust when rubbed by hand. If necessary, use Akryl G primer twice and then prime with GUARDI latex primer after an appropriate period. Walls with wallpaper: thoroughly remove the wallpaper and wash away glue with soap and water, and allow to dry completely. Remove mechanically spots of mould or fungi and then disinfect using Biotox Total algae and fungicide. Stucco may be applied after the priming coat has dried, i.e. after at least 6 hours from the end of priming provided that optimum drying conditions were provided (temperature +20°C, humidity 60%).

  2. APPLICATION METHOD

Use INOX Venetian trowel to apply the first layer of stucco with uniform thickness on a dry, primed surface. Apply the product on a smooth surface. Repeat this operation on small areas, moving in different directions until the entire surface has been covered.

Start applying the second coat after at least six hours. Collect the excess product by moving the clean edge of the trowel along the surface. Wait for the second layer to dry (min. 6 hours), and then apply the third, thinnest coat. Smooth out the third coat until the “zero” level has been reached. While the third layer is drying, i.e. after approx. 10 minutes from application, make the stucco “shiny” by moving the sharp edge of the trowel several times over the stucco’s surface. The trowel’s edge must be kept absolutely clean during this operation.

For extra protection and deeper colour, apply Francesco GUARDI wax after approx. 7 days. Put a small amount of wax on the edge of the trowel and distribute evenly a thin coat over approx. 0.5 m2, then polish with a soft cloth, e.g. flannel or use a car polisher. Using the wax produces a sheen and darkens the colour.

  3. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Apply Francesco GUARDI limestone stucco at substrate and ambient temperatures from +5°C to +25°C, avoiding direct sunlight on coated surfaces both during application and drying. In the case of external applications outside the premises, protect the freshly applied stucco from rain for 2 to 3 days after application. A light or dark hue of the Francesco GUARDI limestone stucco is characteristic for this product and does not constitute a problem with quality. It is not recommended to apply stucco on substrates made of pressed cement. Before applying the wax on the whole surface we recommend that it should be tried on a small area first.
